Federal Skilled Trades Program

Note: As of January 2015, Eligible candidates can apply under this stream via Express Entry.

People who are skilled in a specific Trade which is currently in demand, can apply in this stream. Candidates are assessed on the basis of their Experience and Language skills.

Skilled Trades currently eligible for the Federal Skilled Trades Program are organized under these major and minor groups of the NOC:

  • Major Group 72, industrial, electrical and construction trades,
  • Major Group 73, maintenance and equipment operation trades,
  • Major Group 82, supervisors and technical jobs in natural resources, agriculture and related production,
  • Major Group 92, processing, manufacturing and utilities supervisors and central control operators,
  • Minor Group 632, chefs and cooks, and
  • Minor Group 633, butchers and bakers.

Candidates can earn points on their educational credentials, but there is no educational filter in this stream. In some NOC categories candidates require a certificate of qualification to work in certain province and territories.
