Is your Canadian work permit expiring while your employer’s LMIA is still pending?
IRCC allows concurrent processing for certain eligible applications submitted inside Canada.
Your permit must expire in two weeks or less, and you must provide proof that your employer submitted a complete LMIA application with enough processing lead time, and that no decision has been made yet.
IRCC holds qualifying applications until the LMIA decision is pending, before deciding the work permit.
Last-minute LMIA submissions receive exceptional assessment, so plan ahead.
